Surface treatment of rubber before bonding

generally, the surface of rubber materials is relatively smooth, and it needs mechanical treatment or chemical treatment to increase its roughness in order to achieve high mechanical strength

rubber can be divided into natural rubber and synthetic rubber. Synthetic rubber can be divided into neoprene, chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, butyl rubber, ethylene propylene rubber, nitrile rubber, polysulfide rubber, polyurethane rubber, silicone rubber and fluororubber. Among them, silicone rubber and fluororubber have saturated molecular structure, high chemical inertia, low surface energy, and are difficult to bond. [method 1]

this method is grinding method

for natural rubber, gently grind it with a brush, blow away the fine particles, and then wipe it with toluene or acetone

for synthetic rubber, first clean the surface with methanol, then grind it with fine sand skin, then clean it with methanol and dry it

[method 2]

this method is sulfuric acid method

for natural rubber, soak it in concentrated sulfuric acid for min. after the hard surface is formed, wash it with distilled water (or soak it in% ammonia for 5min and then wash it for only more than 20 years), and dry it at room temperature. Then bend the rubber to produce fine cracks on the surface, and increase the surface area to improve the bonding strength

for synthetic rubber, wipe it with methanol, soak it in concentrated sulfuric acid for min, and then wash it with distilled water. Then soak in 28% ammonia

solution at room temperature for min, and then wash with distilled water. And repeated bending, resulting in fine cracks on the surface

[method 3]

this method is applicable to silicone rubber

degrease after appropriately roughening the surface with a wood file. Then it was treated in toluene solution of 1% silane tetrachloride for 10min and then dried

or, after roughening and degreasing, brush with% dichloroethane solution of tert butyl titanate and dry in the air

or, after roughening and degreasing, apply a layer of the following solution:

vinyltriethoxysilane 100 dibenzoyl peroxide 5 boric acid 0.5

[method 4]

this method is applicable to fluororubber

after roughening the surface properly with a wood file, soak it in the following solution at room temperature for several minutes:

sodium acetylene (or lithium acetylene) 6 ammonium hydroxide 1000

take it out and wash it with water and dry it

or, coating a layer of propenyl triethoxysilane and drying for 3 minutes can also reduce the cost for 0 minutes
